St. Ignatius Summer Soccer  
 


Testament to the school's involvement in the local community the St. Ignatius College Riverview, on the lower Sydney north shore, annually hosts a soccer competition for the increasing number of ageing football fans in the local area called the "Over 35's Six a Side Summer Soccer".

The competition was founded in the 2008/09 season with one mens division and eight teams. The Inaugural champions being the talented Northbridge 360s team who also went on to win again in the second season. A talented team from the Lane Cove club took the honours in the 2010/11 season to deny the 360s their hat trick.

Players have continued to flock to the college and team numbers have grown each season, reflecting the popularity of the small sided game in the local community. In the 2011/12 season a Ladies competition commenced with 11 teams.

The ladies play their matches on Wednesday evenings while the mens matches are played on a Monday evening (weather permitting). It all happens in a carnival like atmosphere with swarms of kids all watching their mums and dads at the Riverview college during the summer to a backdrop of the distinctive sandstone college buildings in one direction, and Sydney Harbour and the city in the other.
